Recently Rob Swire of Knife Party informed Tripple J that he and band mateĀ Gareth McGrillen are saying goodbye to Pendulum for good.
For those of you who were unaware, Knife Party formed in mid 2011 as a duo between Pendulum members Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen. after their debute performance in August 2011 in Ibiza, Knife Party have shot to unparalled success within the dance scene.
Swire commented on the success of Knife Party and not wishing to continue Pendulum, saying “The Knife Party thing is going so well we don’t really feel like going back to junior school anytime soon” (http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/musicnews/s3526471.htm)
In one respect, this is sad news for Pendulum fans who will no longer have the chance to see Pendulum perform again. But All good things msut come to an end and considering the drum and bass scene is not as strong as it was 10 years ago when Pendulum rose to international fame, it is only natural that Rob and Gareth move with the times and continue producing music relevant to the current market needs.
Swire commented on this market change, stating that “it was time for something new and the music scene itself had changed”
In closing, lets have a moments silence and appreciate one of the greatest tracks Pendulum ever produced, Slam.
